League Director

Onward Upward Sports & Events runs multi-sport leagues, tournaments, and social events across Greater Philadelphia. As League Director, you are the operator on the ground: you keep play running, players coming back, and venues happy. This is a hands-on, repeatable role built to scale with the company.

What You Run

- Weekly league play across sports such as padel, tennis, pickleball, volleyball, soccer, and more

- Scheduling, standings, scoring, and player communication start to finish

- Game-day setup, check-in, and on-site flow at partner venues

- Player retention: turning first-time registrants into repeat participants

Responsibilities

- Manage league logistics from registration close through final standings

- Serve as the primary on-site contact for players and venue staff

- Maintain accurate rosters, schedules, and results in the program platform

- Resolve scheduling conflicts, no-shows, and substitutions quickly and fairly

- Send clear, on-brand player updates before and during each season

- Surface growth opportunities: new divisions, time slots, and venues

- Protect the player experience so leagues fill and refill

Independent Contractor Status

This is a 1099 independent contractor engagement, not an employment position.

- You set your availability and accept only the seasons that fit your schedule

- You retain control over how you run the programs you accept, within agreed standards

- You are free to work for other organizations and accept outside clients

- You are responsible for your own taxes, insurance, and any required certifications

- You receive no employer-sponsored benefits and no tax withholding

- You operate as your own independent business, sole proprietor or LLC, with a W-9 on file before any engagement. An LLC is preferred.

- There is no guaranteed volume and no obligation to accept any season

- Before any engagement or payment, you sign an independent contractor agreement

Who Fits

- Organized, reliable, and calm under live event pressure

- Strong communicator who keeps players informed and engaged

- Comfortable running game-day operations and making fast calls

- Familiar with one or more of our sports, playing experience is a plus, not required

- Available evenings and weekends when leagues run

- Self-directed operator who owns outcomes without close supervision

Compensation

1099 independent contractor. Performance-based compensation tied to league participation and growth, paid per season. Specifics are confirmed at offer.

Pennsylvania Clearances

Active Pennsylvania clearances are required prior to working with minors, including PA State Police Criminal Record Check (Act 34), PA Child Abuse History Clearance (Act 151), and FBI Federal Criminal History Record (Act 114).
