Sports Coach

Onward Upward Sports & Events is opening 1099 independent contractor work for coaching professionals across our sports programs. Lead lessons, clinics, and player development with flexible scheduling on your own terms. Coach the sport you know best, from tennis and padel to pickleball and emerging court sports.

Role Overview

- Deliver private and small-group lessons across beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels

- Lead adult beginner clinics and intro-to-sport programming

- Lead group clinics and skills sessions

- Lead junior development and family lessons

- Support league play and event-day instruction as program needs arise

Independent Contractor Status

This is a 1099 independent contractor engagement, not an employment position.

- You set your availability and accept only the programs that fit your schedule

- You retain control over instruction method and lesson delivery

- You are free to coach for other organizations and accept outside clients

- You are responsible for your own taxes, liability insurance, and active certifications

- You provide your own teaching equipment, with program-specific gear supplied as needed

- You receive no employer-sponsored benefits and no tax withholding

- You operate as your own independent business, sole proprietor or LLC, with a W-9 on file before any engagement. An LLC is preferred.

- There is no guaranteed volume and no obligation to accept any program

- Before any engagement or payment, you sign an independent contractor agreement

Requirements

- Recognized certification in your sport (USPTA, PTR, PPR, or equivalent)

- Demonstrated ability to teach adult beginners and junior players

- Ability to travel between local venues

- Successful completion of a standard background check prior to placement

- Active Pennsylvania clearances required prior to working with minors, including PA State Police Criminal Record Check (Act 34), PA Child Abuse History Clearance (Act 151), and FBI Federal Criminal History Record (Act 114)

Compensation

1099 contractor pay. Revenue share per lesson and clinic, with specific splits set per program. No exclusivity required.

Location

Greater Philadelphia and Chester County, Pennsylvania, with venue rotation across partner facilities.
